For a moment, the graceful blue pokemon just sat and stared out at the quaint little town. Then, after several seconds had passed, a tall figure jumped down from the shell that adorned the pokemon's back. From her belt, she removed a small black and yellow ball and pressed the white button in the center of it. "You can rest now Nympha." A red light shimmered around the beast, and then it was gone, leaving only the person behind. Arielle looked critically around the hamlet she had just set foot on. This was her first time to Kanto and, so far, it didn't seem all that impressive. But this, she thought, This is just the beginning. Soon I'll be far past what little this area has to offer me, and I will see the true potential of this region. She took another ball off of her belt -this one green, black, and red- and released the pokemon inside. From the Poke Ball emerged a black lizard that stood at roughly the same height as its trainer. It looked large, intimidating, a sharp contrast to the serene town. "Happy to be out Acer?" The pokemon grunted in response, its red eyes flickering about as it tried to familiarize itself with the strange surroundings. "I know you are."She stretched, cracking her back which had become quite stiff on the long journey here. The sharp snaps of her aching bones were almost the only sound in the town. Once she was finished, the air fell quiet again. "It's quiet here. I wonder if there are any trainers around." She looked up and noticed the nearby pokemon lab. "Perhaps I should pay a visit to a colleague first, before I go off on any more of my little adventures." A grin split across her face, and she turned to her haxorus. "Let's go check it out boy." She trudged over to the lab with her companion in tow, eager to forge her path in Kanto.[/style] MADE BY KIWII AT BTN |

[scrolly:h(280),w(380),sy,as(padding:0px;margin-top:-0px;margin-left:10px;)]A nose, a bit of forehead and some bright orange hair could be seen from a window if one looked from within the lab. Though if one did glance that direction all three body parts would surely disappear rather quickly. Luckily for the man doing the peeking, he couldn’t see anyone inside the building. Just a bunch of machines, tables and things. One fact held strong in Sen’s mind though; It was a pokemon lab. It had to have pokemon in it. Somewhere. The trick was finding them and getting out as fast as possible. Not always an easy task. Even harder if one decided to find the fridge as well.
“Pffft” came a small sound beside Sen, causing Sen to sigh. “You can hiss or pft me all you want. It wont make me move any faster!” So how long had been peeking in the window? About an hour or so… Why? Well he was trying to rationalize that he was planning his tricky deed. Truth was? He was lazy. It was kind of comfortable where he stood and there was a slight cool breeze seeping through the window. Ada, the Spinarak who had made the ‘Pffft’ sound beside him was growing restless. She hated it when Sen sat around and did nothing for hours. At the very lest they could be sitting under a tree or something.
“Do you think that big thing over there is the…” Sen stopped speaking suddenly, his body stiffening a bit as he heard the faint sounds of footsteps. Had someone spotted him? No, there was no yelling… yet. Alright, cool, all he needed to do was duck down quickly and make his way out view! So, with a quick spin around, a few steps forward and - “SHI- t…” Bam, right onto the ground. He had been standing in one places for so long that he forgotten what exactly he was standing in. It so happened to be a bed of plants. Plants that unfortunately had thick roots.
“Wha, my head…” a small pained voiced escaped Sen’s mouth as he slowly sat up, his hand holding his head. It was only after he complained that he remembered why he was on the ground. Quickly his bright green eyes shot up desperately looking to see if he could spot the being or creature that had been making the footstep like sounds. Perhaps it would be his lucky day and turn out to be nothing more than a pokemon.

A man, younger than her, with shocking red hair there as well. But what was he doing? Arielle edged closer. It looked like he was looking in the window or something. He was standing in a patch of plants near a window, so there wasn't really any other explanation that made sense. She frowned. Not even that explanation made much sense to her. Why would he be doing that?Suddenly, just as she was about to call out, the man she spotted spun around and fell down. She jumped. Okay, I was not expecting that. For a brief second she stood and just looked at him, then she began to walk once more. "Are you all right?" she asked when she was only several feet away from him. "That looked like a rather nasty fall." Now that she was closer, she began to size up the man. His appearance made him look rather tough, though his recent display prevented Arielle from feeling any fear. Was he someone she should be afraid of? She doubted it. Next to her, Acer grunted, and she turned to see what had gotten his attention. It appeared that he was a trainer. What her Haxorus had noticed was a small green pokemon: a Spinarak. "So, you're a trainer than, are you?" She spoke to the man thought her attention was now on the pokemon. "Fascinating..." Her voice trailed off as she studied the bug pokemon. She hadn't come across many Spinaraks before; this was an excellent chance for her to really get to see one. Five minutes in Kanto and already I'm learning! she thought, Oh, this is going to be much better than I thought. Her gaze traveled back down the trainer who owned the pokemon. "Are you going to get up?" she asked, "Or are you just going to lie in the dirt all day?"[/style] MADE BY KIWII AT BTN |

[scrolly:h(280),w(380),sy,as(padding:0px;margin-top:-0px;margin-left:10px;)]Was he… all right? Oh thank the Pokemon heavens! A beautiful woman had been descended upon him and wasn’t there to kick his behind! His luck was ever so kind. “Nothing I can’t handle, heh.” Was his half squeaked reply as a rather goofy and somewhat embarrassed looking smile crossed his face. “Huh?” Sen’s eyes slowly lifted up at Ada as the woman continued to speak. A trainer? He was at a pokemon lab! Well hot diggity, that had fallen straight into his lap. Luck truly was on his side.
“Yah, I’m a trainer. She’s cute, isn’t she? Even when she glares at me like that.” He chuckled a bit before looking back up at the blond haired woman, then down at himself. He was still on the ground, wasn’t he? Foolish he was. Ah well, it didn’t matter. “Sorry,” His smile returned and almost as fast as he had fallen before, he had sprung to his feet. “The names Sen.” an introduction escaped his lips as he brushed himself off. “Are you a trainer as well?” With that he held out his right hand for her shake. He wasn’t sure how long he could play the innocent act with the woman, but perhaps just long enough that he could still do his job and get out.
Ada on the other hand was not impressed with the entire situation at all. She did not like being stared at by some strange woman. Nor did she like the strange woman being near her Sen. All women who looked at him should melt in a pot of boiling lava! Yet despite her thoughts, Ada did not move from her spot. She almost felt as if she could just disappear if she didn’t move. That wouldn’t happen. After all, she wasn’t a Kecleon. Some days, like now, she wished she was, but she wasn’t.

[/s] "Good," was her curt reply, "If you were hurt, I don't think there's any place nearby that could fix you up." She glanced around the town. At least, I don't think there is.It was always odd to come to a new place. You had no idea where anything was and everything just seemed so mysterious and confusing. Yet this was how she decided to spend her life: traveling from one place to another, never settling, never setting down roots. She drew in a breath and looked back down at the red-haired man. This situation she was in was certainly no adventure. A minor blip on her radar at the most. “Yah, I’m a trainer...Are you a trainer as well?”[/s] She couldn't help but smile as he mentioned his pokemon. "Yes, she is quite cute. It's unusual to meet someone else who appreciates bug pokemon. Most people just think they're weak or gross." Was she warming up to the man? Maybe a little. He cared about his pokemon, that was good, but still she felt perturbed by him. What exactly had he been doing? "Ah, yes and no." she said in response to his question. "I do train and battle pokemon, but first and foremost I am a pokemon researcher." She took his hand in hers and gave it a strong shake. "It's quite a thrilling job, I must say." She paused, then remembered she hadn't introduced herself. "I'm Arielle, by the way, and that," she motioned to her Haxorus, "that is Acer." For a second longer, she smiled, then her curiosity got the better of her. "What exactly where you doing here before I came along?"Off to her left, Acer, her Haxorus, continued to stare at the trainer's Spinarak. He had an uneasy feeling about all of this. The man, his appearance, his pokemon; something just felt strange to him. But he stand by Arielle and wait until she decided what to do. If she trusted the man, so would he. If she said attack, he would. [/style] MADE BY KIWII AT BTN

[scrolly:h(280),w(380),sy,as(padding:0px;margin-top:-0px;margin-left:10px;)]If he were hurt, there was no place near by he’d be caught dead in. Hospitals and Pokemon centers were all a trap! Well, alright. It was true that he did stop by a Pokemon center every now and then. Usually he did his best to keep as low key in them as he could. But his pokemon did need check ups every so often. With the amount of times they kept him out of trouble they certainly needed the check ups. Couldn’t rely on their help if they weren’t healthy enough to do the job, right?
Week? Gross? How could anyone think such a thing? Bug pokemon were beautiful creatures! Some had such glorious colours and markings. Others were so strong and fast it was just…. Breath taking! Sen was certain they had be one of the smartest Pokemon on the planet. Forget psychic pokemon! Bugs where the coolest! Luckily for Arielle, Sen’s rant hadn’t made his lips. Instead his thought processes was switched to her introduction of herself and her pokemon. What a mighty fine pokemon it was. Man, Sen could just imagine the reward he would get if could snatch a pokemon like that! But… out of it’s poke ball? Nah, he wasn’t about to take on a Dragon.
‘Shoot’ Sen’s mind hissed at the woman’s last question. He should have expected she would ask him that sooner or later. He had been hoping she hadn’t seen… or perhaps would forget. Perhaps he could press his luck a bit further. After all, lying did come naturally to him. “Oh, well, ahhh, heh… It’s kind of silly really.” Sen stuttered a bit, his eyes gazing over at the window for a moment before dropping to the ground. His hands had come together in front of him as he pressed his two index fingers together and a that goofy grin grew wider. “You see, I’ve never been to Pallet Town before and I…” His head lowered even more, “Was kind of curious of the lab.” His head suddenly raised as a look of pure excitement crossed his features, “They say it’s the one of the top labs in the world!…” Once again his head dropped, and his smile vanished. “But… I was afraid of bothering someone.” That was believable, right? Sure was in his mind. In Ada’s? Well, she was having a hard time keeping herself from sighing in disbelief. Where did he come up with this crap?

That thought couldn't help but cross Arielle's mind. The way he talked, they way he dressed; there was something about him that just felt odd to her. I honestly don't know what to make of him. She glanced over at Acer. He seemed just as uncertain as her. The Haxorus was glancing between trainer and pokemon with a slightly confused expression stretched across his face. Great. I really have no idea where to go from here.
“Oh, well, ahhh, heh… It’s kind of silly really...But… I was afraid of bothering someone.” |
[/s] Arielle frowned at his explanation. It seemed a little weak to her, but could it be true? She didn't know. Maybe I should try to give him the benefit of the doubt, she thought, You know, people are always saying how you always think the worst of people. Her eyes drifted up to the window. But then again, he doesn't really strike me as a considerate person. She hesitated for a moment. Maybe I'll just talk to him a bit longer; that way I'll be able to get a better feel of who he really is. Despite this, she stepped back and turned to her pokemon. "Stay on your guard." she murmured, so only he could hear. After she spoke to her Haxorus, she turned back to the man with a slight smile on her face. "Well, I suppose I can understand that. I mean, I have heard a lot of great things about this lab. I've never been here personally before, but I'm sure it's quite a sight to see." She let her smile grow. "So, what most interests you about Professor Oak's lab?" she asked, trying to learn more about the man's motivations. "Are you curious about his research? Do you want to see his pokemon? Are you interested in talking to the professor himself? Or what?" She paused. "I only ask because I am a novice professor myself. I'm just wondering what draws trainers to us."[/style] MADE BY KIWII AT BTN

[scrolly:h(280),w(380),sy,as(padding:0px;margin-top:-0px;margin-left:10px;)]Was shy buying it? Hard to say. Sen was doing is best to study the woman’s reactions but studying could only go so far. He did note the small murmur to her pokemon despite not knowing what she had said. Murmurs to him were never a good thing. Ugh, but so many questions suddenly followed after that. It was hard to keep up. Now he knew how it felt when he asked so many. A test. That’s what it was. No big deal. He could pass. He was sure of it.
“Do professors actually give out pokemon to new trainers?” He blurted out a bit childishly, “I’ve heard rumours they do but… Well we had to catch our first pokemon in our town. Is it also true that they have cool gadgets like the pokedex? I always wanted to see one of those. I bet they come in really handy. Everything I know about pokemon is up in here.” He pointed to his head and gave a goofy grin. Afterwards he turned and looked back at the building. “There was a lot of really odd equipment in there. I can’t imagine what half of its for. “ He turned his head back to Arielle, “So how about you, are you hear to check out the professors work?” A softer smile then slipped onto his face as he ran a hand through his long hair. “When you’re done I wouldn’t mind taking a lovely lady like yourself out for dinner.” That was followed by a wink and lifted eyebrow.
Ada could have just about fallen off the wall. She was use to Sen hitting on almost every human who was even the slightest attractive but this? He had changed subjects so fast she just hadn’t been expecting it. Really, someone needed to give him a good smack one of these days. Or perhaps a good kick in the behind. Anything to knock some sense into him. “So, what do you say? Hanging around old men all day can’t be at all fun.” Sen added. So what was going on in his head? Subject change of course. Surely this would throw her off any suspicious thoughts she might have had about him. For the time being at least.

Normally, it only took Arielle several seconds to learn everything she needed to know about a person after they began to speak, but this man was just so difficult to read. Was he lying, or was he just odd? It was hard to say. She had a feeling in her gut that he wasn't being entirely truthful, but what if she was wrong? She didn't want to attack him then just have him turn out to be some innocent, ordinary trainer. And something told her that she wasn't going to be able to intimidate him into telling the truth. This is going to be a tough one.
“Do professors actually give out pokemon to new trainers?...Well we had to catch our first pokemon in our town." |
[/s] She nodded. "Some do, some don't, though most others that I've met do. However, we only give out pokemon to people that we believe are deserving of them. The pokemon we hand out are typically quite rare; we don't want them going to just anyone." Her eyes narrowed. "Only good trainers get them."Once again, her gaze was drawn back to his Spinarak. "Did you really catch her all on your own?" If he did, she had to admit that she was impressed. Even she had had help catching her first pokemon. Your first capture was always the hardest, especially if you didn't have a pokemon already there to help you. If he had managed to catch her on his own, that would have been quite an impressive feat. "Is it also true that they have cool gadgets like the pokedex?...So how about you, are you hear to check out the professors work?“[/s] "Yes we do have those." Opening a small pocket on her pack, she removed a grey and red tablet from it. She showed it to Sen. She was beginning to enjoy his curiosity. "The ones handed out here probably wouldn't look exactly like this. I received mine back home in the Unova region." she told him. "The last I checked, the pokedexs varied from region to region.""As for the equipment, well, most of it isn't nearly as complicated as it looks. They look difficult, but usually they're all quite simple."Her eyes flickered over to the lab. "Yes, I was actually hoping to speak to professor before I went any farther into the Kanto region. It would be nice if I could get some tips about where the best spots to find certain pokemon are."“When you’re done I wouldn’t mind taking a lovely lady like yourself out for dinner...So, what do you say? Hanging around old men all day can’t be at all fun.”[/s] Arielle blinked. "I, wait, what?!" Well, that had been unexpected. She didn't know how to respond. "Dinner? But, but, I don't even know you!" Even Acer was taken aback by this. He lost the focus he had had on the trainer and his Spinarak, and was now just staring in disbelief at the two humans.
